Creating Capacity in Seasons of Chaos
The Evolution of The Capacity Code™-from survival to sustainability
Raise your hand if you’ve ever followed someone’s version of self-care—only to end up more depleted than before.
You took the nap. The trip. The breathwork. The time off. You journaled and said the affirmations.
And yet… the tension didn’t leave your body.
The weight didn’t lift.
You’re still running on fumes—still the one holding it all together.
I know that feeling intimately.
Not just as a therapist, or a consultant, or a speaker—
But as a woman who’s spent her life building dreams in the middle of chaos.
"This isn’t just a brand I built.
This is a blueprint I bled for".
“I’ve built everything I have inside seasons that should’ve broken me."
I had a scholarship for musical theater. I was double-majoring with honors. I was a resident advisor, mentoring students.
Then life happened.
I became a single mom at 19 to my son.
At 21, I placed my only daughter for adoption—a decision rooted in deep love and deeper pain.
Two days later, I walked back into my college classroom.
Not because I had healed.
Not because I was ready.
But because capacity wasn’t optional. It was survival.
I married a man who was stop-lossed and deployed. I carried my third pregnancy alone.
We lived in a tiny apartment down the road from a consignment shop where I bought our clothes.
That same store is now the commercial property I own—
The headquarters of my group practice.
That took 18 years. Not 18 months.
I finished my degree. Went straight into grad school. Graduated early.
All while raising a family and working full time.
I opened a private practice.
Then I pivoted—
Not just into group practice…
But into a teaching practice.
I trained interns & new grads to become trauma therapists...fast and well.
We scaled to 7 figures in 3 years.
I owned two commercial properties.
I saw a full caseload.
And I was silently coming apart at the seams.
I had the numbers.
But I didn’t have the nervous system or company culture to match.
We were further from the vision and mission I had sacrificied so much to get.
The industry said, “Congratulations.”
My calendar screamed, “I can’t do this anymore.”
My nervous system felt trapped under the weight of my 7-figure dream that felt more like a toxic relationship than a vision and value-aligned purposeful brand.
I had scaled too fast with the wrong team. I hired based on potential and not alignment.
That resulted in losing half of my staff after implementing EOS [Entreprenurial Operating System]
Just as we rounded what felt like the hardest year, I faced a medical emergency that led to surgical menopause.
Five months later, I was leaving a 22-year marriage.
And I still kept going.
Until I couldn’t...
When Self-Care Stops Working
I tried what we all try: do more. Or do less.
I traveled. I rested. I numbed.
Nothing worked.
I watched my supervisees—many of them new moms—question whether they still had what it took.
I watched capacity collapse in real time.
Not just in me.
But in my clients.
My colleagues.
My employees.
That’s when I realized:
Self-care without capacity awareness isn’t care.
It’s avoidance.
And for someone with 20+ years working with nervous system disruption, I began to see it clearly.
We don’t have a self-care problem. We have a capacity crisis.
So, What is Capacity?
Capacity isn’t just your energy level.
It’s your energetic blueprint.
It’s your ability to show up—fully, consciously, and consistently—in your life, relationships, and work.
It’s not just physical energy, productivity, or time management.
It’s spiritual alignment, emotional resilience, mental clarity, relational integrity, and somatic safety
Capacity moves with your life, your losses, and your healing.
And here’s the truth:
What doesn’t protect or promote capacity will always drain or distort it.
We don't have a self-care problem. We have a capacity crisis.
This isn’t a brand I conceptualized. It’s a framework I survived.
It was created in real-life chaos.
Built through heartbreak.
Proven in practice.
Refined in leadership.
It all comes back to one question:
“Is this decision Driving, Draining, or Disguising my capacity?”
⇧Capacity Drivers fuel alignment and energy.
⇩ Capacity Killers create burnout and disconnection.
⇧⇩ Capacity Liars feel good now, but rob your future.
You might be:
A business owner who scaled too fast and is trying to find breath again.
An HR leader trying to hold space for others without collapsing yourself.
A healthcare professional questioning your career while juggling children and a caseload.
A parent or caregiver trying to shift generations without giving up under the weight.
An educator determined to make an impact under the weight of broken systems and low resources.
A university leader looking for a speaker or author who’s lived what she teaches.
Or a journalist or producer trying to decide if this story has teeth.
It does.
Because it’s not just mine—it’s ours.
The Capacity Code™ Is the Permission Slip You Didn’t Know You Needed
This isn’t about productivity.
This is about presence and purpose.
It’s about anchoring into what actually restores and sustains you.
It’s about learning to:
Say no without guilt
Rest without shame
Pivot without losing yourself
Be rooted in resilience
It’s about choosing what matters most—even when life is loud, messy, or heartbreaking.
Because when you lead from capacity, you don’t just succeed—you sustain.
You build a business, a body, a brand, or a belief system you can actually live inside.
Capacity Isn't Luxury. It's Your Lifeline.
